Abigail is put on trial becuase she is accused of witchcraft and the first name she accuses is none other than that of Mrs. Elizabeth Proctor. Mary Warren is assisting in the trials and is staying with the Proctor's, Mary gives Elizabeth a poppe, doll, that she made while in the trials then gives the upseting news that Elizabeth's name was mention in the trial.
After Mary goes to sleep Elizabeth expresses to John that she knew her name would be brought up in the trials. Elizabeth then refers to John's affair with Abigail and basically says he needs to break anything thats still connected between the two of them. Proctor is then upset that Elizabeth never forgave him for his indiscretions.
In the middle of everything happening at the Proctor house Reverend Hale shows up and searches the house for proof of Elizabeth being guilty. He then asks about the poppet and Elizabeth says the only poppet she has is the one Mary Warren gave to her. When he inspects the doll it has a needle in the center. In the trials earlier that day Abigail clamed to have been stuck mysteriously with a needle and blamed it on Eizabeth. They then take Elizabeth off to jail even though Mary says the doll is hers, leaving John Proctor very ill-tempered.
